The Sikorsky SH-60B Seahawk is a multi-purpose helicopter adopted by the US Navy for its LAMPS Mk.3 (Third Multipurpose Light Aircraft System). It was developed based on the Army's UH-60A Black Hawk for shipboard use, and has been modified to increase engine output,
It has newly developed folding mechanism such as rotor blades, and shorten the wheelbase, and is equipped with the equipment and electronics necessary for a carrier-based aircraft.
Its main mission is ASW (anti-submarine warfare) and ASST (anti-ship search), and it is active in search and rescue and various transportation.
The first squadron of the Seahawks was formed in 1984 on HSL-41.
