1/350 IJN Destroyer Shimakaze “Final Version” by Hasegawa HAS-40029
Hasegawa 40029 (Z29) 1/350 IJN Destroyer Shimakaze “Final Version”
The Hasegawa 1/350 scale model kit of the IJN Destroyer Shimakaze, a legendary Japanese warship from World War II. This particular kit, also listed as Hasegawa 40029, represents the late-war configuration of Shimakaze, complete with enhanced anti-aircraft armament as seen during the Battle of Leyte Gulf.
Boasting the world's fastest speed of 40 knots at the time, the high-speed destroyer "Shimakaze" equipped with heavy torpedo attack equipment equipped with three five-barreled torpedo tubes was made into a kit in its final appearance in November 1944.
The 25mm triple machine gun added near the rear torpedo tube, the No. 13 electric probe, and the addition of a 25mm single machine gun have been added to the new parts.
While pursuing the precision of a scale model, this kit is attractive for its new style of parts division, which focuses on reproducing colors by part color!
The model is known for its detailed engineering, including over 250 parts, crisp molding, and thoughtful design features like a self-adhesive linoleum deck and brass-plated components. It’s a favorite among naval modelers for its historical accuracy and build quality.
